Memory of Birds at Shubbak Festival

Step into a pod in Memory of Birds, an intimate, meditative experience suspended in the trees.  In this immersive sound installation, participants are invited into suspended hammock-like cocoons nestled among the branches, guiding them through a reflective journey on migration, trauma, and healing to experience a meditative exploration of the interconnectedness of nature and memory. Created by acclaimed live artist Tania El Khoury and developed in collaboration with a trauma therapist, Memory of Birds offers a unique somatic experience inspired by contested landscapes where histories are buried. Through poetic storytelling and sensory immersion, the work explores the weight of collective memory, displacement, and the ways we process trauma. Designed to be forgotten, Memory of Birds is a fleeting yet profound encounter—an invitation to listen, reflect, and surrender to the rhythms of nature.
